Psalm 27:1 “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?”

Fear is something we all deal with on a daily basis. We fear rejection; we fear confrontation; we fear loss; we even fear success. Why is it that we all have so many fears?

As human beings we crave acceptance above all else. From the earliest days of our existence we are dependent on others around us. We are among the most vulnerable of all creatures on this earth after we are born. Horses gallop and run within minutes after birth; dogs and cats are mature enough to eat solid food within a few weeks; insects are born, procreate, and die within a few days. We are engineered to need others just to survive, and yet we all know the sting of rejection and abandonment to one degree or another.

The good news is that with the Lord we are never completely abandoned. He is always with us. And when it looks like he is not, we only have to remind ourselves that his love sustains us. His promises have proven to be sure, even when it has appeared that the opposite is so. Often we are rescued at the last minute—when it looked as if we would sink and drown.

So today, if you are looking at an unsure future, just remember that he loves you, and do not be afraid. After all, "There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” (I John 4:18).

God bless us all with his wisdom and love.
